Public health nutrition focuses on improving the nutritional health of communities and populations through education, prevention strategies, nutrition policies, and health promotion programs. This course provides foundational knowledge regarding nutrition-related public health issues including malnutrition, obesity, micronutrient deficiencies, food insecurity, maternal and child nutrition, and non-communicable diseases.
Learners will explore global nutrition challenges and evidence-based interventions recommended by organizations such as the World Health Organization, United Nations Children’s Fund, Food and Agriculture Organization, and public health nutrition guidelines. The course also introduces nutrition education strategies, community nutrition assessment, awareness campaigns, and program planning approaches used to improve health outcomes at community and national levels.
